TEACHER:               SUSAN LOGUE is the past owner/operator of “Past & Present Rug Shop” (formerly of Bedford, NS)
                               For almost 25 years Susan has taught beginner rug hooking and dyeing classes based on the formulas
                               and methods in her dye book “Past & Present Antique Colours & Spots” . There are 28 formulas in
                               the dye book for 3 value swatches as well as spot dyes that coordinate with the 3 value colours and
                               can be used in painting with wool pictorials, flowers, stained glass and more. Susan grew up
                               surrounded by rugs hooked by her Great Grandmother and Grandmother. Their influence drew her
                               to her love of everything rug hooking 40 years ago. She also has been repairing rugs for over 30 years.

 

WORKSHOP:          The Workshop is open to beginners or to anyone who wishes to improve on their wool dyeing skills.. You will be                                     able to participate in the demos given on the dyeing of 3 value swatches (dyed over natural wool and textures),                                   spot dyed wool on natural wool yardage as well as natural yarn. Over dyeing wool by “Marrying and Bleeding”                                       colours from recycled wool will be demonstrated as well as dyeing “Antique Black” in wool fabric and yarn to
                               match for whipping rug edges.

                               Susan will bring some sample rugs and other previously dyed wool samples for you to see the before and after of                                 some methods in the dye books. She will have additional handouts of dyeing directions for you to take home and                                   refer back to for future reference.

COST:                     Total cost is $150.00

            • - includes registration fee of $50.00
            • - includes a copy of “Past & Present Colours & Spots” Dye Book & Swatches Set (as shown in centre photo           above), swatch size pieces of the 3V colours and spot dyed wool in class to take home, handouts and PDF’s
               of additional dye formulas will be shared by email after class. $100.00

                               Coffee and tea will be provided, Please bring your own lunch, snacks, cutlery and mug.
                               Please do not bring anything with nuts due to severe allergy concerns.

 

CANCELLATION/
REFUNDS:              A deposit of $100.00 is required when registering and is refundable prior to September 1, 2023. The $100.00                                         deposit is non-refundable after September 1, 2023.
