TEACHER:               JANE  STEELE is the owner of River House Rug Hooking Studio, Petite Riviere Bridge , NS.  Jane studied textile marketing in                                      England and worked with many European Mills supplying the UK garment industry.  Moving to Nova Scotia in 2010, Jane started                                  to plan a way to put her knowledge and love of colour, fabric and design into a business.  She learned how to hook and quickly                                  became “hooked”.

WORKSHOP:            I have been hooking hat ladies for years.  The idea came from my childhood when I was forever drawing ladies in hats - now it                                  has become a bit of an obsession.  I have hooked the Queen, a Princess, a fishwife, Miss Canadiana, Frida Kahlo, Carmen, rose                                  bush lady, butterfly fascinator, cheerleader, punk, pumpkin head, pineapple head, Marie Antoinette, lollipop lady, Irish girl, sea                                    queen, lighthouse lady, lobster lady, puzzled lady, jazz singer, headscarf lady, Bea's ugly hat, African lady, fish lady, flower girl,                                    Lunenburg lady, winter lady, deco hat, etc and I've got loads of patterns drawn - queen bee, feather head, bird head, dolphin                                      lady, Halloween lady, fortune teller,  jewellery thief and so many more.  I can design a custom pattern for you if you have an                                      idea......or you can find your spirit animal and use that - mine was the butterfly, so I made that as a fascinator.  My faces are                                      very stylised and I think easy to hook!  I will show you how to do everything from hooking to applique to felting to braiding to                                    proddy - anything goes in this workshop and I think it will be a riot!

SUPPLIES                 My hat lady patterns on linen are mostly 12 x 21 inches at $50, and I will bring a big selection - also other sizes.  If you                                  want a custom design, please contact me directly.  I am really looking forward to this workshop and seeing what you create!   .                                  You can use all sorts of decorations, applique, jewellery...bring your own embellishments if you have them.  I will bring a huge                                    selection of wool, alternative materials and decorations. PATTERN:  Purchase from Jane $50.00.
