TEACHER:               Liz Young.  Liz was born in England and recently moved to Nova Scotia from Newfoundland.  Liz travels the world teaching rug                                   making and specializes in introducing Portuguese Rug Making called Arraiolos.

 

WORKSHOP:           You can still attend this workshop if you haven’t taken Part 1 – Beginner Portuguese Rug Making

                               Finishing techniques focusing on 3 main objectives:

                                 1) completing the border line, mitering corners and finishing it in a “professional” manner

                               2) creating a handsewn fringe border using a tapestry needle and yarn. This stitch can be applied to a variety of projects in rug                                       hooking and sewing.

                               3) weaving on a small loom to create an amazing fringe will be set-up for all to practise on. To complete your rugs or trivets –                                         these fringes can be worked (by the yard) in about an hour or so. 

 

                                 Looms will be available in class for making the fringed edging for $30.00 payable directly to Liz.

                                 

SUPPLIES NEEDED:  Yarn will be available for practising.  If you prefer, please bring 4 to 6 balls of colored yarn and

                                    1 ball of main fringe loop color (beige or black) yarn to play with on the loom.  Also bring your

                                  previous project, tapestry needle, scissors, needle and thread for finishing

                                                                                    

REGISTRATION:       Total registration fee   - $60.00

                                  Coffee,tea will be provided.  Please bring your own lunch, snacks, cutlery and mug.

                                  Please do not bring anything with nuts due to severe allergy concerns.
