TEACHERS:
Jessica (Jess) Steponaitis was born and raised in Nova Scotia, designing and crafting hooked rugs since 2002. Jess dyes/over-dyes wool to create bold colour, simplistic, effective designs making her “contemporary folk art” or “folk art meets pop art” style instantly recognizable. In 2018 she was juried in ART 1274 Hollis St., Halifax, and in 2020 was featured in Rug Hooking Magazine as a finalist in “Celebration of Hand Hooked Rugs 30 and also was featured in their Sept/Oct 2023 issue. Her work was juried and shows her work at the annual Nova Scotia Folk Art Festival. She is a member of the Rug Hooking Guild of Nova Scotia. Jess is featured in the 4th season of Handcrafted tv (2024) and was Artist-in-Residence in Yarmouth June 2023. She offers mini workshops, open studio sessions, events and an artist talk.
NEED TO BRING:
Hook, frame, scissors, stick or piece of driftwood, about 15” long, 1.5” wide masking tape, needle for whipstitch (3.5” embroidery needle) and needle for cotton cord (a wool/yarn needle, blunt tip, large eye.
KITS:

PATTERN:
Jessica can provide a digital pattern for those wishing to create their own for a cost of $5.00. Contact Jess @ weedragonfly@hotmail.com The fish pattern measures approx. 11.5”x5”. You will need to supply your own wool (refer to workshop photo for colours); yarn for whipstitch edging and 3mm braided cotton cord.
COST:
Total registration fee for 2 days - $100.00. A Deposit of $60.oo is required to register. Does Not include kit or pattern. Class limited to 10 persons.
